Settings & Troubleshooting
Settings
Settings (slot header) opens the app-wide preferences:
- Audio / MIDI — output device, sample rate, buffer size (the engine is built for small buffers — 64 samples is the design target), UI scale, undo depth, streaming preload, normalize analysis window, and which MIDI inputs the standalone listens to.
- Paths — the instrument library folder and preset folder. The library folder is
where the Hub installs content and where Sibelius auto-load looks; it defaults to
~/Music/Accent Tap/SamplerInstruments. - Sibelius — the whole-library program map (see the Sibelius chapter).
File locations
| Item | Location |
|---|---|
| Instrument library | ~/Music/Accent Tap/SamplerInstruments (configurable) |
| Program map | ProgramMap.json inside the library folder |
| Sibelius sound set | ~/Library/Application Support/Avid/Sibelius/Sounds/Accent Tap.xml |
| House style | <library>/../Sibelius/AccentTap.lib |
| App settings | ~/Library/SamplePlayer/settings.xml |
Troubleshooting
No sound, notes register on the keyboard Check the active keyswitch — an empty keyswitch (no groups) plays nothing. Also check group mutes/solos in the Edit tab, and the slot's Solo/Mute buttons.
Sibelius staff plays the wrong instrument (or nothing) The staff's Sound ID must match the sound set exactly (lowercase). Confirm the device has the Accent Tap sound set assigned in Playback Devices, and that Sibelius was fully restarted after the sound set was installed. Check Settings → Sibelius for duplicate or missing program numbers.
Auto-load doesn't find any instruments
The library folder in Settings → Paths must point at the installed
SamplerInstruments folder. On a fresh machine this is set automatically; if you've
moved your library, update the path.
Vibraphone sustains with the pedal up The CC64 mapping decides this — open the Edit tab's MIDI Mapping rack and confirm the Allow/Disallow/Release rules are present (the factory Default and Pedal presets include them). In ensemble mode, each member's keyswitch selection respects the pedal rules automatically.
Notes cut off or CPU spikes Use a Release build of your host session at a reasonable buffer size; check the voice count in the slot header. The DISK badge lights when streaming can't keep up — increase the streaming preload in Settings.
A stray sustain pedal mutes/holds notes it shouldn't Instruments only respond to CC64 through their own mappings. If a third-party template sends pedal data to a non-pedal instrument, nothing happens by design — if you want pedal response, add a mapping.
Settings changed in the Hub-installed library disappeared
Library updates replace the SamplerInstruments folder wholesale. Keep personal
instruments in a separate folder (set it in Paths), or back them up before a library
update.
