The Instrument View
The instrument view is the performance page — everything you touch while playing lives here.

Keyswitches
Keyswitches select articulations or mallet/implement choices without touching the UI — each is bound to a MIDI note below the playing range (shown in gold on the keyboard; hover a keyswitch key to see its name). The active keyswitch decides which sample groups play.
- Click a keyswitch in the list to activate it, or play its trigger note.
- + Add creates a new keyswitch; the … button chooses which sample groups it enables; x removes it.
- The blue key range on the keyboard updates to show the range of whatever the current keyswitch actually contains.
Keyswitch choices also appear per member in Ensemble mode, so a section can mix implements (see Ensemble & Stage).
Techniques
Techniques are alternate playing styles (e.g. strikes vs. rolls) that can be switched from the list or driven by the mod wheel. MODWHEEL: TECH. / DYNAMICS chooses what the mod wheel controls:
- TECH. — the wheel steps through techniques.
- DYNAMICS — the wheel scales dynamics (useful for rolls that swell).
Motor
For vibraphone: the motor toggle and speed control drive the tremolo LFO. The motor can also be switched per ensemble member, and its rate/depth live in the Edit tab's Motor LFO modulator if you want deeper control.
Roll
The roll engine re-strikes held notes automatically:
- ON / OFF, and RIPPLE (hand-to-hand, notes staggered) vs BLOCK (all notes together) modes.
- SPEED sets the base rate — the note icon switches it to tempo-synced values in the plugin.
- VEL VAR and SPD VAR add human variation to each re-strike.
- FOLLOW DYN maps playing dynamics to roll speed (quiet = slower, loud = faster), with its own curve editor.
Round-robin groups rotate per strike during rolls, so repeated notes never machine-gun.
Velocity curve
The velocity graph remaps input velocity (IN) to output velocity (OUT):
- Drag the corner dots to set the input range and output floor/ceiling.
- Drag the line itself up or down to bend the curve.
- While you play, a small dot rides the curve at each note's input velocity — in ensemble mode you'll see one per member. Only this instrument's own notes draw dots.
Presets
The preset dropdown in the slot header stores the complete performance setup: modulators, effects, MIDI mappings, round robin, groups, and the instrument controls. Save, Save as New…, and Delete live in the same menu, along with Sibelius Mapping… (see the Sibelius chapter).
Multi-Presets (top bar) capture the whole rack — every slot, its instrument, and its settings — so one click recalls a full ensemble setup.
Locks
The padlock next to the preset dropdown locks that instrument slot; the one in the top bar locks the whole plugin. Locked slots ignore Sibelius auto-load entirely — nothing gets reassigned, reloaded, or moved while you're playing with a locked setup.
